10 Bookish Goals for 2026
Every new year offers an opportunity to set fresh goals and embrace new adventures, especially in reading and engaging with the literary world. As 2026 begins, I’m excited to challenge myself with a set of bookish goals that will help me grow as a reader, writer, and member of the book community. From tackling my TBR pile to interacting with fellow book lovers, these top 10 goals aim to motivate a year full of stories, creativity, and discovery.

Bookish Goals
Reading
- Read more books from my TBR list. This year, I want to focus on the books that have been waiting on my shelves. By dedicating time every week to my To Be Read pile, I’ll finally get to the stories I’ve been meaning to read.
- Finish books in my DNF pile. Rather than leaving unfinished books behind, I want to give them another try. Revisiting them might bring new understandings or enjoyment, and help me decide what I really want to read.
- Read at least 52 books. Aiming for one book a week will keep me motivated and help me build a steady reading habit all year long.
- Finish the She Reads Everything 2026 Reading Challenge. I want to read a mix of genres and authors, step out of my comfort zone, and hopefully find some new favorites.
Writing
- Write at least two short stories. I want to practice my creative writing by writing original stories this year. Finishing two will help me feel accomplished and grow as a writer.
Organize
- Use a book app and organize my library. Keeping track of my books and reading on an app will help me manage my collection, avoid buying duplicates, and find new titles to read.
Explore
- Visit local indie bookstores and promote them on social media. Supporting independent bookstores matters to me. I want to visit more local shops, share what makes them special, and encourage others to shop small online.
- Go to one literary conference. Attending a conference will allow me to immerse into the literary world. I will also meet other book lovers and learn from people in the industry.
Make Bookish Friends
- Make more bookish friends. I want to join book clubs, take part in online reading groups, and connect with other passionate readers.
- Interview authors for She Reads Everything. I want to connect with authors and learn about their writing process. I want to share their narratives with the community to inspire others.
As I look ahead to the coming year, I’m eager to see where these bookish goals will take me. Whether I’m discovering new stories, connecting with fellow readers, or pushing the boundaries of my own creativity, each goal is a step toward a richer, more engaged literary life. Here’s to a year filled with great books and memorable moments. I hope to share my joy in reading with others.

I haven’t written a short story in ages. I might have to borrow that goal from you and get back to it. 🙂
Good luck with the goals this year! Put those short stories up!
Your goal about finishing books you previously DNFd is a unique and interesting one. When I DNF, I DNF, and don’t look back. I’ll be interested to see if you feel differently about these books on the second try. Good luck with all your goals!
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

52 is a great goal. I’m also hoping to write a few short stories this year. If you put yours up, I’d love to read them! I hope you achieve all your goals 😊.

Reading books on your DNF pile that you’ve kept and want to try again, is a great idea! You can then see if it was the mood you were in or if it just doesn’t work for you. Good luck with all of these goals!
Fun! Having more bookish friends is a good one, I just added it to my list too! https://thepart.reviews/2026-goals
